External Activities
Golf
A number of our members are also members of Prestbury Golf Club, one of the Top 100 UK golf clubs. That gives new arrivals to the area the possibility to play the course as a guest with Old Boys’ & Park Green Club (OBPGC) members, and each year there is an outing to the Club to play for the attractive OBPGC golf trophy and enjoy a convivial prize-giving dinner afterwards.
Cricket
For many years Club members have enjoyed an annual “Away Day” at Alderley Edge Cricket Club to watch the middle day of a Minor Counties match. This is usually on a Monday and includes morning coffee, a splendid three or four course lunch and afternoon tea, plus some live County-standard cricket in between the gastronomic episodes. The timing varies year to year; a booking form is posted on the Club notice board well in advance.
Walking Group
At least one Club walk is organised each year, usually convening at the Club late morning, before heading by minibus to a High Peak pub for a light lunch. Depending on the lunch intake and duration, the return may follow a variety of walking routes, with the end objective of a reviving evening meal at the Club. It’s downhill all the way, at least until the 108 Steps!
Bus Pass Lunches
Around 2006, four Club members who were eligible for free bus passes formed the Group (hence the name). Members travel to pubs and restaurants about every couple of months to enjoy lunch together in a different environment and they don’t have to drive!
